Eligible for a $2,000 Sign-on bonus. Your role would be as a direct support to the optometry and ophthalmology departments by insuring quality patient care and optimal customer service. 

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret optical descriptions as written by both optometrists and ophthalmologists
  • Assist customers in the selection of frames that are appropriate for their optical prescription and desired aesthetic
  • Recommends specific lens designs, lens coatings and frames that will suit patient needs
  • Obtain accurate measurements for optical orders – pupillary distance, optical centers, seg heights, etc.
  • Place optical orders via online ordering with our local labs displaying a high level of accuracy
  • Verify spectacle lenses on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications and ANSI standards.
  • Provide adjustments and repairs on a variety of frames
  • Responsible for submitting insurance claims for eyewear and contact lenses.
  • Maintain medical records in a HIPAA compliant manner.
  • Work as a team member within Ophthalmology, Optometry and with all other Polyclinic departments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred:

  • Possess knowledge of and experience working with insurance plans, including VSP
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Experience working with Epic EMR

Required:

Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Has successfully completed an apprenticeship program acquiring a state license and/or successfully finished a program through an accredited college.

Certification/Licensure: Dispensing Optician License issued by the state of Washington required.

Experience: Must have a minimum of one year experience in an eye care setting demonstrating knowledge and skill fitting and dispensing glasses and contact lenses.

Services include: selling, fitting, dispensing, measuring, and adjusting eyeglasses and optical devices in accordance with written prescriptions.  The dispensing optician will also be responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service to all clientele and for participating in departmental and divisional activities to support quality improvement.

Customer Service Duties:

  • Promote and model an atmosphere of respect for human dignity and the uniqueness of each person encountered in the optical shop.
